Around 2.6 million youths who are aged between 15 and 24 years in Tanzania are living with HIV infections, of which majority are females. This statistical data were revealed in UNESCO report (2013) which was presented by Abdoul Coulbay, UNESCO representative. Despite this harsh reality, young people and their allies are determined to end this pandemic once and for all.
It’s more
important than ever to recommit to the fight against HIV/AIDS. TUVUTANE continue to invest in giving
trainings on the importance of prevention strategies and ensuring equal access
to information related to HIV/AIDS and healthcare for everyone.
And most
importantly, we must invest in young people - bring them to the table not only
as partners, but as leaders that can truly turn the tide of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Only by fully investing in young people - in their health, their education, and
their leadership - we can reach an HIV/AIDS - free generation.
Why DO WE INSIST ON YOUTH’S HIV/AIDS Awareness
The creation
of TUVUTANE is a step toward acknowledging and addressing the needs of young
people in the HIV/AIDS response. TUVUTANE has large number of qualified health
experts who cut across the country to organize and educate people about HIV and
AIDS. They will promote HIV testing, fight stigma, and start the necessary
conversation needed to deal honestly and effectively with the challenges we
face. TUVUTANE will also provide a yearly date for all of its stakeholders to
hold our leaders responsible to their commitments and invest in realizing an HIV/AIDS
- free generation.
TUVUTANE
believes that youths carries large percentage of productive population in any
nation thus they need to be educated and protect themselves against HIV
infections so that we can have growing and sustainable economy in our country. As
a matter of fact, any successful nation always invests in youths.
